Bandits murder Catholic priest in Taraba, set his body ablaze

Some unidentified bandits have murdered a Catholic priest at Kufai Amadu in Takum Local Government Area of  Taraba State.

The priest was reportedly travelling to Takum for a peace meeting with his fellow clergymen on how to resolve the lingering Tiv, Jukun crisis when the bandits attacked and killed him, according to ChannelsTV.

The chairman of the council, Shiban Tikari, added that, after killing him, the attackers set him and his car on fire.

“The Reverend Father, David Tanko, was attacked by Tiv militias, Tiraki alleged. He is from the Wukari Local Government Area of the state,” he said.

Taraba is one of the Northern states being plagued by inter-ethnic clash and bandits attack in recent years.
