Bay Area Rapper Lil Yase Shot, Killed At 25

Bay Area rapper Mark Antony Alexander, popularly known as Lil Yase has reportedly been shot and killed on Saturday morning (November 28) at the young age of 25.

According to TMZ, the body of Lil Yase was found in the southern section of the East Bay, a region that encompasses Oakland.

Lil Yase is said to have told his friends he would be “right back” during a Friday late-night studio session in Marin County, a region north of San Francisco.

Just hours later, it was learned Yase had been shot dead. His death comes as a shock to his friends because he had no enemies.

 

Lil Yase made a name for himself in circa 2016 when he was profiled in an article for The Fader titled “Surviving The Last Days Of San Francisco Rap.”

In the story, he detailed his intent to move to Los Angeles because the scene was “more popping.”

Some of his past collaborators include Sage The Gemini, Mozzy, Nef The Pharoah and Shoreline Mafia.

His upcoming EP Everyday Is Friday!, a collaborative effort with fellow San Fran rapper Itsfatfat, was just announced on Friday.

As news of his death spread, multiple West Coast Hip Hop personalities such as AzChike, 92.3’s DJ Charisma and All Money In’s J Stone flooded his comments to pay their respects.
