A magistrate court sitting in Warri Delta state, has ordered that a Bishop be remanded in Prison over the alleged rape of a 19yr old in Delta State.

Bishop Elijah Orhonigbe was remanded by the Magistrate court because the court said it lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter.

He was charged to court by Police for raping a 19yr old under the guise of holding deliverance prayers for her in his Church.

Police prosecutor, SP Vincent Orawemen prayed the court to remand the accused in prison pending advice from the Attorney General of Delta state as well as the Commissioner for justice.

The court however ordered that the Bishop be remanded at the A Division Police station in Warri if there is no space at the Nigeria correctional service facility at Okere.

The Warri area commander of the Nigeria Police, ACP Mohammed Muktar Garba hailed the court’s decision and said it will serve as a lesson to others hiding under the guise of Christianity that nobody is above the law.
