Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, will be held in the male section of a correctional facility throughout his six-month sentence for naira mutilation.

This decision comes after Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court sentenced Bobrisky on Friday. The judge reportedly asked Bobrisky about his sex before sentencing, to which he replied, “I am a man.”

The Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) explained their decision, stating, “Since he admitted to being a male in court, then we have to abide by what was submitted in court.

Bobrisky’s sentence stems from charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for naira abuse. He pleaded guilty to the four-count charge on April 5th.

Justice Awogboro emphasized the need to deter similar acts of naira abuse and mutilation. The sentence began on March 24th, 2024, the day of Bobrisky’s arrest.
