Breaking: Nigerian Governors Meet Behind Closed Door In Abuja

Members of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum are currently meeting in Abuja to harmonise their positions on some issues of national importance.

Reports claimed that the governors present at the meeting  included Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.  Their meeting is holding at the Transcorp Hilton hotel.

The meetings’ agenda includes “udidate on Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation PHC Meeting in Seattle, November 12-13, 2019 and other side meetings.

The reported read: “Update on deductions for budget support facility. Proposal for recovery of funds due to State Governments (Withholding Tax (WHT), Collection of Ground Rent. NTEL, MTEL etc.)

“Briefing by NEC Ad-hoc Committee on Excess Crude and other Special Accounts of the Federation H.E. Governor Nasir El-Rufai. Update on the Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCOUR) and other health related matters.”

Earlier, The Herald reported that Southeast Governors’ Forum on Thursday called on the federal government to include the expansion of the tarmac of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu in the planned rehabilitation work at the airport.

The Chairman of the Forum, Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, made the call when he briefed State House Correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said the call had become imperative in order to accommodate bigger aircraft at the airport.

He said: “I came to see him on behalf of our people on the closure of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu. We are very happy with him for ordering the closure of the airport consequent to our letter to him to intervene and that closure has saved a lot of lives because if you land at that tarmac you will see that the tarmac was gone.”
