Bulls Ends Six Day Losing Streak As All Share Index Gains 0.17%

It seemed the Nigerian Stock Exchange was heading for a sixth straight day of losses, however a late rally by the bulls helped to end a five day losing streak, leaving the 50 basis points up, a 0.17% increase to end the day at 29,446.95 basis points.  Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N10.12 trillion.

There were 2,882 total deals recorded on the floor today, a reduction of 1.40% against a 9.17% dip recorded yesterday, the total volume of shares traded on the floor reduced by 33.29% after increasing by 173.43% yesterday, while the total value of transactions recorded increased by 47.65% compared to a 40.47% increase yesterday.

The Gainers chart was led by NB which gained N9.13 on improved demand to close at N238, closely followed by NESTLE and FLOURMILL which gained N6 and N0.72 respectively.

The Losers chart was led by GUINNESS for the third day in a row losing N3.29 to close at N125.05, closely followed by UACN and JBERGER which lost N2.78 and N1.18 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were GUINEAINS, DIAMONDBNK, FBNH, ACCESS and UBA with a combined total of 172 million shares traded.

Market breadth closed negative as NB led 12 Gainers against 27 Losers led by GUINNESS.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -15.03%.
