Buyer’s Remorse: Biden’s Ratings Low As Voters Clamour For Trump’s Return

US President Joe Biden achieved an incredible feat in the November 2020 presidential election, winning 81,283,098 votes, or 51.3 percent of the popular votes cast. With those numbers, he became the first candidate in US electoral history to surpass 80 million votes.

Many Americans that wanted President Donald Trump out criticised his immigration policies, handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, penchant for outlandish comments, and, to a lesser degree, his economic policies.

As some conservative voices are wont to say, the Democrat-controlled mainstream media in America helped to depict Trump as an ogre whose sole purpose was to alienate America from its allies with his ‘Make America Great Again’ policy thrust.

Well, the wool appears to be falling off the electorate’s eyes, as many of those who voted for Biden have begun to have a rethink.

A Twitter user, Ferdinand @Burmese_Tyga_ took to Twitter to lament the turn of events over the weekend.

“I need Trump to run in 2024…. My only way of apologising to him is to vote for him,” the Twitter user wrote.

He accused the Left of manufacturing “chaos” that helped sway the election in Biden’s favour.

“The chaos manufactured by the left really just blinded some of us. I must admit…I was fooled,” the Twitter user wrote.

Well, the Twitter user is not alone, as a Harvard-Harris poll has found that Trump has overtaken Biden when it comes to favourability.

The new Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey, as reported by The Hill, showed that more voters would back former President Trump than President Biden in a hypothetical match-up if the 2024 election were held today.

“Forty-eight percent of voters in the survey said they would back Trump, compared with 45 percent for Biden. Another 8 percent were unsure.

“The results were evenly split at 46 percent among women, while men backed Trump by a margin of 50 percent to 43 percent,” The Hill reported.

According to an  I&I/TIPP poll which sought to know who Americans would vote for in the 2024 presidential election, only 22 percent of respondents said they would vote for Biden, while just 12 percent said they would vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Another poll by Wall Street Journal pegged the President’s approval rating at a dismal 41 percent, while Rasmussen had it at 42 percent.

“A new poll says that only 22% of Americans want Biden to run again in 2024.

“What happened to those 81 million votes?” American political columnist, Benny Johnson asked.

Sky News host Chris Smith also said in September that Joe Biden voters in the US are experiencing some “serious regret”.

“You get what you pay for.

“There’s no refunds, no exchanges, and no going back; I don’t think Joe will last until the next election in 2024,” Smith said.

Associate Professor of Political Science at University of Massachusetts, Boston, Erin O’Brien said, “It’s undeniable. Joe Biden is hurting in the polls right now and it’s due to a number of factors.”

She identified these factors as nagging pandemic, soaring inflation, and lingering doubts about Biden’s foreign policy chops after the botched pullout from Kabul and lingering legislation, The Boston Herald reported.
