Cameroonian soldiers have reportedly crushed a Boko Haram campaign on the town of Amchide in Northern Cameroon, killing at least 17 of them.

The Agence France Presse (AFP) reported an undisclosed security source saying “Fifteen Boko Haram (insurgents) were killed Tuesday and several others injured.”

It will be recalled that a Boko Haram suicide bombing killed 5 people including two suicide bombers on Sunday in the town of Mora in Northern Cameroon close to the border with Nigeria.

The security source said that no military personnel were killed in a clash with the terrorists on Monday evening but two Boko Haram foot soldiers lost their lives.

“The two suicide attackers appeared to have been aiming to blow themselves up on Monday, which is market day in the village, but it was guarded by the security forces,” AFP reported.

Amchide is just over the border from the Nigerian city of Banki, which has been occupied for around a year by Boko Haram and which Nigerian troops are preparing to retake, according to Cameroonian sources.
