Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been handed a one-match ban by UEFA in the Champions League.

With the latest development, The Herald understands Rashford will miss the Red Devils’ upcoming trip to Galatasaray.

The England international received a red card during United’s 4-3 loss to FC Copenhagen earlier this month.

Referee Donatas Rumsas was asked to review the pitchside monitor footage by VAR before dismissing Rashford for a foul on Elia Jelert.

The defeat has left Erik ten Hag’s team on the brink of elimination from the Champions League group stages.

After the game, Ten Hag commented on the red card: “The red card changed everything. We then conceded two goals before half-time that should never have counted – the first was offside, their player stood in front of André Onana, and the penalty for the second was very debatable. The red card was harsh. Rashford went for the ball, but the referee had such a long time to make it a red card. When you freeze it, it always looks worse. They took so long to make a red card of it.”
