Chelsea pip Manchester City to qualify for FA Cup final

A lone goal from Hakim Ziyech ensured Chelsea saw off Manchester City to qualify for the final of the FA Cup on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola’s side had gone into the semi final game at the Wembley Stadium with hopes of winning a quadruple.

However, that hope was dashed when Ziyech converted Timo Werner’s pass ten minutes into the second half.

The Citizens were unable to respond adequately despite dominating possession.

Perhaps City’s best chance fell to Gabriel Jesus, who flunked it over from close range.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was Chelsea’s saviour in the encounter, keeping out Rodri’s stoppage-time effort from a corner.

Thomas Tuchel’s team will play either Southampton or Leicester City in the FA Cup final.

Manchester City suffered a huge blow early in the second half when talismanic midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne was forced off the pitch by an injury, and appeared to be a doubt for the Carabao Cup final against Tottenham Hotspurs.

Chelsea and City could yet clash in the UEFA Champions League final, as both teams qualified for the semis in midweek.
