Dr Dawood Amao, Leader Forum for Comparative Sermon (FOCOS) has advised Muslims to participate in comparative religion sermon to effectively propagate the teaching of Islam.
Amao gave the advice on Saturday in Ibadan at the Muslim Family Award conferred by the group on various individuals that had contributed to the progress of Islam.
The preacher said that his passion for sermon and the need to give a new approach to the spread of Islam, made him to venture into comparative analysis of religion.
“I urged many Muslims brother and sisters to take interest in comparative sermon in order to actualise the objective of preaching Islam to a large number of people.
“A number of Muslims and non-Muslims have accepted Islam directly or indirectly through the comparative religion sermon but more still needed to be done.
“However FOCOS is facing challenges of taking care of the new converts and upgrading of its sermon instrument.
“We appeal to the respective awardees, their families and associates and special guest to partner with us morally and financially in our quest to advance the cause of Islam through sermon,’’ Amao said.
In his lecture, Mallam Yusuf Adepoju, Chief Lecturer, called on Muslims to assist the cause of Islam both financially and physically, saying Islam needed money for its propagation.
Adepoju said that Amao, who started his preaching 35years ago, inspired him into comparative religion and thanked almighty Allah for making the programme a reality.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the awardees were Alhaji Abdur-Rahaman Salau, the Deputy Controller of Immigration, Oyo State, Shelkh Abdul-Kareem Rufai, former Chief Imam of Ibadan land, who was given a posthumous award, among others. (NAN)
