Court remands 2 over possession of deadly weapons

A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court in Sokoto State on Monday remanded two businessmen and three others, now at large, for allegedly possessing deadly weapons and joining an unlawful assembly.

The Prosecutor, Mr Abubakar Tambuwal, told the court that the offence was committed on Aug. 19.

Tambuwal said that the offence contravened Sections 103 and 405(f) of the Penal Code.

Abubakar, 22, of Kofar Taraminya area, Sokoto, and Mohammed, 20, of Tundun Wada area, Sokoto, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

The accused persons were arrested with two sharp knives and cutlasses, where they assembled with three others, now at large, around Kofar Taraminya area of Sokoto.

Chief Magistrate Abubakar Adamu ordered the remand of the accused persons, to allow the police to complete their investigation.

Adamu adjourned the case until Sept. 20, for continuation of hearing. (NAN)
