An accountant working with Covenant University, a school owned by the Living Faith Church aka winners, has been arrested and kept in custody by officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to reports, the man is said to have defrauded the school of over N180 million from school fees payments.
Publicizing the news to Punch reporters, EFCC’s head of Media and Publicity, Tony Orilade, stated, “I can confirm that a Covenant University accountant has been with us for some days now over an alleged case of stealing reported by the Chancellor of the school.”
The suspect has allegedly been stealing from the school for many years without anyone noticing. However, his luck ran out recently.
In his reaction, the Chancellor of the institution, Bishop David Oyedepo, mentioned that the accountant’s lifestyle has been somewhat “riotous”.
He is said to have acquired a good number of exotic cars but had been hiding them in one of the houses he built with stolen money, around Lekki area of Lagos State.
