Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House had ceremoniously announced that members of the house had ‘agreed’ to donate their March and April salaries to the government to aid in its effort against the COVID-19 virus in the country.

Lado Suleja however told the press in Niger State that most lawmakers including himself were not happy with the situation.

Even though we were forced to donate our two months salary, we still help the poor with the little that we have and we will continue doing it till the end of this virus,”

The lawmaker representing Guraja/Suleja/Tafa Federal Constituency said.

He reiterated that although the gesture was a noble one, many of them were not happy about it because they were not consulted.

He likened the situation to that of a civil servant whose salary was deducted without consent.
