Lagos based civil rights lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, who is also the lawyer to embattled former militant, Tompolo, has been arrested by operatives of EFCC.
According to Sahara Reporters, Adegboruwa is being accused of obtaining money under false pretence by knowingly dealing in renting out a forfeited asset without due authorization.
The human rights activist allegedly conspired with some other persons to lease a property situated at House 105 NICON Town Estate, Lekki Lagos, to one Shelf Drilling Nigeria Limited at the sum of N61, 631,944.65.
The said money was credited to his Zenith Bank’s account, from where he disbursed the funds to others, including churches.
EFCC officials said the legal practitioner acted illegally by leasing out a property which is a subject of an Interim Forfeiture Order by a Lagos State High Court.
A source within the EFCC said Adegboruwa will be charged to court as soon as possible.
