Dalung Sacks Yakmut’s Rio Olympics Committee

The Youth and Sports Minister, Barrister Solomon Dalung has sacked the 15-man Nigeria ‘Hospitality’ House Project committee constituted for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio by the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Alhassan Saleh Yakmut.

The Special Adviser on Media to the Minister, Mrs. Nneka Ikem Anibeze said in a statement said that in its place, a 7-man committee was constituted by Dalung, with Alhaji Mohammed B. Abdullahi as project coordinator and chairman.

The 15-man committee earlier inaugurated by the Yakmut in November, had the Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Mr. Tunde Popoola as chairman. The new committee has Hon. Bappa A. Missua as the representative of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.

Other members include Shamma Makpa, a Sports Officer at the National Sports Commission, Okechukwu Nebo, Head of Chancery, Nigerian Embassy in Brazil and three ministerial nominees, Alhaji Bala Usman, Tar Ukoh and Mrs. Adeshola Ndu.

The Nigeria ‘Hospitality’ House Project Committee which would be inaugurated tomorrow by the minister of youth and sports is to promote and showcase the country’s culture at the Rio Olympic Games to be held in August this year.
