Nigerian superstar Davido (David Adeleke) is making bold claims about his position in the Afrobeats scene. In a recent interview with Billboard’s Nadine Graham, Davido interrupted when called the “Afrobeats leader in the United States,” asserting his dominance extends “everywhere”.
Davido’s ambition goes beyond national borders. He emphasizes his desire to deliver “Just good music” to a worldwide audience, even mentioning the reach of his music reaching incarcerated listeners.
To cater to his expanding fanbase, Davido reveals he’s working on a double album project. One album will target his African audience, while the other focuses on the American market. This strategic approach highlights his intention to solidify his Afrobeats leadership on a global scale.
Davido also sheds light on his favorite collaboration, “2 AM” with Casanova and Tory Lanez. He praises the track for bridging Canadian, Nigerian, and American cultures, showcasing Afrobeats’ potential to transcend geographical boundaries.
