Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State says he will no longer tolerate malicious and defamatory comments directed at him by members of the opposition party in the state.

He therefore warned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties to be ready to defend any such comments in court henceforth.

Matawalle berated politicians who have taken to hate speeches and libelous statements after failing to achieve their desires through the ballot box.

“If you know that you cannot defend what you say, you better stop defaming other people’s character because I will order the arrest of whoever is caught doing that and he will go to jail,” the governor warned.

He spoke Wednesday while welcoming thousands of defected members of the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor also vowed to deal decisively with anyone found jeopardising the security of the state by undermining the work of the security agencies.
