Delta State House of Assembly adjourns session to mourn death of colleague

The Delta State House of Assembly on Thursday adjourned plenary session till Jan. 17, to mourn a member, who died on Tuesday night in a London hospital after a protracted illness.

The adjournment followed a motion moved during the plenary on the floor of the House in Asaba, by the Majority Leader Mr Tim Owhefere, which was seconded by Mr Festus Okoh, the Minority Leader.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the late Omawumi Udoh, who was representing Warri South I Constituency in the House, chaired various committees.

The Speaker of the House, Chief Monday Igbuya told members that the lawmaker died on Tuesday night at about 11 p.m.

The speaker then led members of the House who were dressed in black attire to sign the condolence register opened for the deceased.

Udoh was first elected member of the House in 2003 on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party. (NAN)
