A Dunamis Church located at Mission Ward North Bank in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday, leaving a pastor dead and about four others injured.
The Herald reports that the pastor and four other individuals were observing prayers at the church building before the incident occurred.
The other four individuals escaped the wreckage, but the pastor was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to sources, residential buildings and electricity infrastructure around the building were also affected by the collapse.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Benue State Police Command, Anene Sewuese Catherine, confirmed the incident.
“Only one person has been confirmed dead for now”, she said.
However, the cause of the incident is however unclear.
