A youth group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo, APC Youths for Justice and Development (AYOJD), has declared its support for Mr Chris Ogiemwonyi’s governorship ambition.

The group hinged its support on what it called Ogiemwonyi’s unblemished public record, which it said, had placed him above other APC aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket for the election scheduled for Sept. 19.

The group’s Coordinator, Alhaji Bagudu Momoh and the Secretary, Pastor Ephraim Erhunse, made the declaration in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Benin.

AYOJD said that the governorship aspirant served and retired as an Executive Director with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), in addition to being a former minister, with unblemished public records.

It stated further that without any question on corrupt or sharp practice while in service, Ogiemwonyi also did not have any court case to his name.

The statement that said with such records and the experience garnered over the years, Ogiemwonyi could be trusted to manage the affairs of the state and improve a lot of the people.

“Our point here is that the man, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi has very impressive records that have made him continue to stand tall amongst the other aspirants.

“His years in NNPC and as a minister at the Federal Ministry of Works, where he left landmark achievements, are added advantage for him and his legacies, which have yet to be beaten by any occupier of those offices.

“We, therefore, urge our party leaders to think right and nominate a man without any blemish; a man who knows what party loyalty means.

“A man who has respect for the young and the old; a man who has respect for all calibre of persons, no matter their status; a man who knows what human and infrastructural developments actually means.

“A man of the people, who truly love to see the youth gainfully employed and kept off the street; a man who, before now, had always empowered women and will continue to do so.

“A liberal man and true democrat, who has the fear of God. This is the kind of man Edo needs as governor.
