The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Nse Bassey Ekpenyong, a member of the House of Representatives (Oron Constituency, Akwa Ibom State).

He was arrested for his alleged involvement in certificate forgery scam.

It was disclosed that the anti-graft agency had received a petition from a non-governmental organization alleging that Ekpenyong committed perjury.

He was also accused of fraudulently obtaining salaries, allowances and other financial benefits from his contrived certificate.

Investigations by the EFCC showed that Ekpenyong did not attend the Polytechnic as alleged by the petitioner and the Ordinary National Diploma did not emanate from the institution.
