Ekiti Shooting: Bamidele Flown To London In Tinubu’s Jet

A private jet belonging to National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has flown Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy during Tinubu’s tenure as governor of Lagos, to London for treatment.

Opeyemi was shot alongside five others penultimate Friday at a rally organised for APC gubernatorial candidate in Ekiti, Dr. Kayode Fayemi at the APC state secretariat.

He was immediately taken to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), where surgeons extracted two bullets from his abdomen and leg.

He was flown to Lagos on an air ambulance belonging to Flying Doctors Nigeria two days after.

However, he has now been flown to London for “post-surgery management”.

The Punch quoted an anonymous source as saying that Tinubu insisted on Bamidele being flown abroad to be able to receive the best care.

He was subsequently flown abroad aboard Tinubu’s private jet on Friday night, exactly a week after the shooting, after receiving treatment at Euracare Multi-Specialists Hospital on Victoria Island, Lagos.

His media aide, Ahmed Salami said, “He (Bamidele) is fully stabilised, so there is no cause for alarm. He only went abroad for a post-surgery management and to get prepared for the task ahead. He actually walked into the plane.”
