Elections: Twitter on `fire’ as voters bring mat, pillows, mark spots with stones

Nigerians on Twitter went ‘wild’ as videos of a woman with a mat and pillows went viral.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that they also reacted to photos of electorate marking their queue spots with stones on the ground and voters on Lagos island waiting under canopies.

Twitter user @CaniceEmeka shared a video showing an elderly woman in Enugu resting on a mat and two pillows as she waited for election officials to get ready.

He wrote, “INEC is delaying in my polling unit. An elderly woman and her daughter brought mat, pillow and flask. Mama is ready till midnight.”

The video has since gone viral online with several people commending the doggedness of the woman.

Also, @Prophkay shared a photo showing electorate in an Edo State polling unit representing their queue positions with stones.

He said, “Queue at a Benin polling unit. If you know, you know.”
@Bellaciousbella captioned it, “best picture today”

@Googlemeachak said, “When they can’t come and let sun kill them for nothing.”
Meanwhile, Nigerians also reacted to viral photograph of voters waiting under canopies for election materials at a Lagos Island polling unit.

@MrsLawanson shared the photo with the caption, “It’s 8:30am and INEC officials are not yet in VGC. We are also waiting.”
