The Head, Corporate Communications of the company, Mr Emeka Ezeh, made this known on Tuesday in a statement in Enugu.

“EEDC sincerely apologise to her esteemed customers in Dhamija and Phase-Six axis of Trans Ekulu, Enugu, over the failure in restoring power supply as planned on Saturday, Sept. 12.

“The failure is as a result of unforeseen circumstances which has affected the completion of the power transformer upgrade going on at the Trans Ekulu Injection Sub-station, which affected Dhamija 11kv and Phase-Six 11kv Feeders,’’ he said.

The EEDC spokesman, however, said that as a way of cushioning the impact of power outage on the affected customers, arrangements had been made to back-feed the affected areas from an alternative source.

“We sincerely hope that the exercise will be completed before Thursday, Sept. 17.

“The upgrade of the 7.5MVA power transformer to 15MVA, when completed will increase the capacity of the sub-station from 2 x 7.5MVA to 1 x 15MVA and 1 x 7.5MVA, which will greatly improve the service quality to our customers within Dhamija and Phase-Six axis.

“We therefore appeal for the cooperation and understanding of our customers at New GRA, St. Mary, Dhamija, Upper North, RCC Quarters, Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Sani Abacha, Ugbo Odogwu and Agu-Abor, and assure them of better and improved services once this exercise is completed.

“This upgrade is part of EEDC’s efforts towards improving its infrastructure and the quality of services to her esteemed customers,’’ he said.

Ezeh said that the company “sincerely regretted the inconveniences this delay in completion of the upgrade  caused our esteemed customers.’’
