Fayose Continues Battle With Makinde, Rubbishes Oyinlola Visit

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West are in serious commotion after recent attempts to reconcile former Oyo state Governor,  Ayo Fayose and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

This comes after the recent visit of the former Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola to Fayose’s residence.

Fayose and  Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, are currently embroiled in a public battle which is causing a big division among party members in the region.

Oyinlola paid a visit to Fayose in his Ibadan residence, on Wednesday, in a bid to swiftly end the crisis.

While many were of the opinion that the crisis had been resolved after the latest visit, fresh information indicated the opposite.

Sources who were privy to the meeting held in Ibadan, on Thursday, revealed that Fayose and those close to him rubbished the Oyinlola-led reconciliatory committee.

The Fayose sect were said to be of the opinion that the Oyinlola committee was handpicked by Makinde and thus, a loyalist to the Governor.

“Those at the meeting blamed Makinde for the crisis in South-West PDP,” the source began.

“They accused him of sponsoring insurrection against duly constituted organs of the party in Ekiti, Osun and Ogun states.

“On the South-West zonal congress, they said since it was Makinde that brought the idea that the Eddy Olafeso-led zonal executives should return, the governor should be told to be a man of his words by supporting Eddy Olafeso,” the source revealed.

On the controversial issue of Olafeso, The Chairman of Oyo State Pacesetters Transport Company, Dare Adeleke, recently stated there was no such agreement between Makinde and the PDP leaders, regarding Olafeso being allowed to return as the zonal chairman if he failed in the Ondo State governorship poll.

He therefore brushed aside any hope of Olafeso getting the nod as Zonal chairman.
