Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose it has been revealed, took possession of 2 power bikes and a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV)  jointly valued at N55.2m on credit.

This is according to a witness testifying before the Judicial Commission of Enquiry investigating state finances between 2010 and 2014.

A Brand Manager at Coscharis Motors Limited, Mr. Justin Ngele said that the governor took possession of the Range Rover SUV on September 9, 2015 and that the Power bikes came on July 13, 2015 and that while the former was eventually paid for, the money for the latter is still being owed.

According to the witness, 235 vehicles in total were supplied to the Ekiti state government between 2013 to 2014 and that N459 million was still being owed.

Denying this claim, a witness from the Ministry of Local Government, Mr Samuel Akinjide, said the ministry received an invoice of N1,284,159,000 from the state government for 156 Ford Range of vehicles.

He said the cars were for the traditional rulers and that Coscharis was asking for more than what was supplied.

“Coscharis Motors, on May 2, 2014, requested for payment in respect of 235 vehicles, instead of the 156 units the ministry was directed to purchase.” he said.
