Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile of an Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Monday remanded three unemployed men — Taye Musiliu, Ayo Bamiyi and Mutiyu Adelabu — in Ikoyi Prisons over alleged gunpoint robbery at bus stop.

The accused were arraigned over alleged robbing of a pedestrian of his phone and N75, 000 at gunpoint.

The accused, whose residential addresses were not given, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.

The Lagos State Prosecutor, Ms T. J. Adeolu, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 14, 2014 at 9.00 p.m. at Transformer Bus Stop in Ojo area of Lagos.

Adeolu said the accused, who were allegedly armed with a gun, robbed the complainant, Mr John Mba of his phone and a cash of N75, 000.

The prosecutor said the complainant was going to his workplace when he was accosted by the accused and robbed at gunpoint.

The offences contravened Sections 295 and 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 (amended).

The trio, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

“In view of the plea of the accused, I humbly apply that the defendants be remanded in custody and a date be set for trial.’’

In his ruling, Justice Okikiolu-Ighile directed that the three men should be remanded in prison and adjourned the case until May 14 for trial. (NAN)
