Herdsman Sentenced to Four Years in Jail for Abducting 13 year old

A court in Ogun State, has sentenced a Fulani herdsman to four years in jail for abducting a 13 year old boy and obtaining ransom from his parents before his release.

According to the prosecution, the herdsman identified as Mohamdu Zuberu abducted his victim at Iwari village on August 21, 2020, took him to an unknown destination.

The herdsman who asked that the charges be read in Hausa, pleaded guilty to one count of Kidnapping.

The prosecution revealed before the court that he demanded N2 million as ransom from the family of his victim.

He was eventually paid N350,000 before his victim was released. He had gone to retrieve the ransom money when he was caught by security agencies.

Zuberu pleaded for leniency from the Magistrate Court before he was sentenced to four years in prison with hard labour.
