Hiding from rain, man rapes teenager in mum’s shop in Plateau

A 39-year-old businessman, Abdul Abdul has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a 13-year-old in her mother’s makeshift shop where he hid to escape the rain.

The resident of Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area reportedly committed the offence on June 8 when he went to get N20 ‘pure’ water from the shop.

Abdul, who is married with six children, explained to journalists on Monday that an unknown force came over him and he was not himself when he raped the girl.

The suspect said, “On June 8, it was raining heavily and I needed a place to take shelter after alighting from the tricycle, so I went into the shop, opposite a house I am building.

“She pulled down her leggings herself and told me not to ejaculate inside of her. Immediately I ‘released’ on the side of her laps she ran out, screaming, which attracted neighbours.

“She is someone I know; we all live on the same street.

“It was after everything that my eyes open and I realised what happened, I didn’t force her; she agreed to have sex with me.”

Abdul has reportedly been charged before Justice J. Bakfur of the state High Court.
