The family of a 13-year-old boy, Kelvin Onyengba, has been thrown into mourning after he drowned at the Alatise beach located in Ajah area of Lagos State.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, which was said to have occurred on Tuesday, February 27.
It was learnt that the teenager went swimming with five of his friends.
However, tragedy was said to have struck around noon as Onyengba suddenly went missing while inside the beach and frantic efforts made to locate him failed.
“The mother of the boy said that the wave of the water swept her son. According to her, he went out with five of his friends to swim and hang out, but unfortunately, the boy did not come back to his parents,” The Punch quoted an unnamed police source as saying.
