How Fayemi Won Ekiti APC Guber Primary

Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr Kayode Fayemi on Saturday evening emerged the gubernatorial flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2018 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

Fayemi, who was governor from 2010 to 2014, won the chance to seek for a second term at the rescheduled state primary of APC which held under very tight security.

He defeated another former governor, Segun Oni, and 31 other contestants for the governorship ticket of the party.

Fayemi secured 941 votes to beat his closest challenger Oni, who scored 481.

He is now the leading challenger to incumbent Deputy Governor, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, who secured the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the July 14 election.
