How mother, daughter got electrocuted in Anambra – Police

The Anambra State Police Command says a 55-year-old woman and 10-year-old daughter have been electrocuted in the state.

State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Haruna Mohammed disclosed this in a Tuesday statement.

The statement identified the victims as Mrs. Patience Ugbana and her daughter, Adaeze Ugbana.

According to the police, they were electrocuted in Nnewi on Monday.

They were said to be at Mrs. Ugbana’s shop located along St Peter’s junction, Okpuno Nnewichi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state when a high tension electric wire fell on the shop.

Mohammed disclosed that the Otolo Police Division got a report around 3:30 pm on Monday that two persons had been electrocuted at the shop.

He said policemen from the division mobilised to the scene and rushed the victims to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi for treatment but they were confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.

The police image-maker said the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the same hospital mortuary for autopsy while an investigation is ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
