The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has disclosed that late Major General Shehu Yar’Adua anointed him president since 1993.
Atiku disclosed this during the PDP presidential campaign rally at the new Katsina Karakanda Stadium, Katsina State on Thursday.
Yar’Adua, a prominent son of Katsina, was General Olusegun Obasanjo’s deputy during his military administration and a prominent Third Republic politician.
Yar’Adua, alongside Atiku, Bola Tinubu, Babagana Kingibe and others, formed the People’s Front of Nigeria, which later metamorphosed into the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Addressing a mammoth crowd that attended his campaign, Atiku, who spoke in Hausa, said, “Late Shehu Yar’Adua had anointed me as Nigeria ’s President since 1993. The complex nature of Nigeria ’s politics would not make this to become a reality.
“I appeal to you, katsinawa ( Katsina people ) to let late Yar ’Adua ’s wish for me become a reality . Vote for me so that hunger and poverty will be banished from Nigeria . Vote for Yakubu Lado as Katsina governor also so that our state ( Katsina ) will regain the developments that the APC has denied it since.”
