The Acting Inspector-General of Police, (I-G), Mr Ibrahim Idris, has called for cooperation between the Nigeria Police and traditional rulers to ensure security in their domains.

This is contained in a statement issued by the force spokesman DCP Don Awunah and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.

The statement said that I-G made the call when traditional rulers from Nasarawa state paid him a courtesy visit.

The delegation was led by the Emir of Keffi, Isa Agwai, who was represented by Chindo Yahusa, Emir of Kwandere.

The I-G, who urged the monarchs to ensure that their subjects were law abiding, solicited their assistance in crime prevention and control in their jurisdictions.

He also urged them to participate actively in the Eminent Persons Forum established by the police to intervene and resolve conflicts and crisis.

Responding, Agwai assured the I-G of their support and partnership with the Police in the Eminent Persons Forum and in other areas the police would need their assistance. (NAN)
