Ilorin Palliative Committee Distributes Food Items To Vulnerable Persons

The llorin Emirate Community palliative committee initiated by the Emir of llorin, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari, says it had distributed assorted food items to over 9,000 residents of Kwara.

The Co-chairman of the committee, Alhaji Otta Aliyu-Uthman, disclosed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in llorin on Tuesday

NAN recalls that several indigines of the emirate led by Gov, AbdulRahman AbfulRasaq and the Emir of llorin contributed N50 million to carry out the palliatives programme.

According to Aliyu-Uthman, who is also the National President of the llorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (lEDPU), the over 9,000 benefiaries, who are mostly the most vulnerable people, cut across the five local government areas that made up the emirate.

He said the beneficiaries, including physically challenged, widows, widowers and orphans in 69 wards of the emirate, got 10kg bags of semovita, packets of noodles, beans, 10kg bags of rice and eggs.

Aliyu-Uthman said the committee was expected to complete its assignment with Moro Local  Government Area on Wednesday.

The national president of lEDPU described the distribution as successful and expressed his gratitude to all donors for the palliatives programme.

Alhaji Aliyu Baba, the District Head of Agbeyangi in llorin East Local  Government Area, told NAN that the palliatives came handy to the residents of the area during the lockdown and current Ramadan period.

Alhaji Salihu Amasa-Ajape, the District Head of Ogidi ward in llorin West Local Government Area, also told NAN that the palliatives brought succour to several residents of the ward.

He expressed his gratitude to the Emir of llorin for the initiatives which brought succour to the people during this trying period.
