Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi has debunked a long-standing rumour that he snubbed popular musician, Innocent Idibia aka 2Baba, in a London club.

The incident was said to have occurred in 2006.

Popular claims on the matter insinuated that 2Baba’s song, Only Me, which was released in 2010, hinted at the incident.

Not a few fans suggested that 2Baba dissed the former Chelsea midfielder in some lines in the song’s lyrics.

“I know say no be everybody sabi play ball, but “Arise o’Compatriot is Nigeria call,” the popular musician sang.

However, Mikel has come out to dismiss the insinuation that he snubbed 2Baba, saying he is a “big fan” of the musician.

“No, I never did. I’m a big fan of his. So I wouldn’t do such a thing. Have a lovely day,” Mikel replied a fan who asked him to comment on the rumour.

Mikel, 36, played for the Super Eagles of Nigeria between 2005 and 2019, winning an African Cup of Nations title in 2013.
