Impeached Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu has written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, to obtain a complaint form to file a formal petition against the state Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa.

The move followed Shaibu’s impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly on Monday.

Shaibu was sacked by the assembly after it adopted the report of the seven-man investigative panel set up by the state’s Chief Judge to probe allegations of misconduct against him.

Through his lawyers, B.I. Dakum and Co,  the former deputy governor wrote a letter dated April 8, 2024, to the CJN who doubles as the Chairman of the National Judicial Council for leave to obtain a complaint form to file a formal petition against Okungbowa.

Shaibu is seeking to institute a petition of abuse of office, official misconduct, and desecration of oath of office against the Edo CJ.

Adaze A. Emwanta, a former Commissioner for Information and Orientation to Governor Godwin Obaseki, who signed the letter, said it was written to formally request for a complaint form as prescribed under the Judicial Discipline Regulations 2017 to enable his client to file his complaint against the Edo CJ.
