Renowned American actress and talk show host, Jada Pinkett Smith, has publicly confirmed her separation from actor Will Smith. The confirmation comes after years of speculation regarding their relationship.
In a clip from her upcoming NBC News primetime special with Hoda Kotb, the 52-year-old actress revealed that she and the ‘Bad Boys For Life’ actor have been leading “completely separate lives” since 2016. Although they are not legally divorced, they have effectively been separated for seven years.
Pinkett Smith explained, “It was not a divorce on paper but it was a divorce. Since 2016, we have been living apart.” The couple decided not to publicly address their separation until now as they were not “ready yet” to share this aspect of their personal lives with the world.
The pair, who got married in 1997, share two children – a son named Jaden and a daughter named Willow. Over the years, their relationship has been under the public eye, and in July 2020, singer August Alsina revealed a romantic involvement with Jada Pinkett Smith. This revelation was later confirmed during an episode of “Red Table Talk.”
