Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has mourned the deaths of Nollywood actors, Hajiya Saratu Gidado and Junior Pope.

Saraki spoke in a Facebook message on Thursday.

Gidado, a Kannywood actress popularly known as Daso, reportedly died in her sleep in the early hours of Tuesday after the midnight meal before the commencement of the day’s Ramadan fast.

Junior Pope reportedly drowned on Wednesday when his boat capsized on Anam River, Anambra State, while returning from a filming location on the River Niger.

Reacting, Saraki said, “Over the past two days, the Nigerian entertainment industry has suffered great losses with the passing of two prominent figures: veteran Kannywood actress Hajiya Saratu Gidado, and just last night, Junior Pope.

“These sudden losses represent a significant tragedy for our entertainment industry.

“As Nollywood mourns these losses, I pray that the families of Hajiya Gidado and Junior Pope find strength and solace at this difficult time.

“They will both be dearly missed.”
