The acting governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, will be sworn in as governor today, The Herald has learnt.
The decision followed the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in the early hours of Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
A top government source told Sahara Reporters that: “Ondo State will be swearing in Lucky Aiyedatiwa as governor in Akure today. The swearing-in is slated to be held at the Cocoa Conference Hall in Akure. However, no time has been fixed yet for the event.”
Akeredolu died after a prolonged battle with Leukemia and prostrate cancer.
Both diseases had incapacitated the former governor for months before his death.
