JUST IN: Buhari decorates new service chiefs

Buhari decorates General Leo Irabor at the State House, Abuja on Friday, March 5

President Muhammadu Buhari has decorated the new service chiefs with their new ranks.

The ceremony held at the State House, Abuja on Friday.

In their new ranks, the Chief of Defence Staff is now General Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff is now Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru; Chief of Naval Staff is now Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu; and Chief of Air Staff is now Air Marshal Oladayo Amoo.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha; Defence Minister, Major-General Bashir Magashi (Rtd); and the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari witnessed the decoration ceremony.

Recall that President Buhari appointed the new service chiefs after their predecessors tendered their immediate resignation late January.

The former service chiefs have since been appointed non-career ambassadors.

Meanwhile, Prof Babagana Zulum, whose Borno State is the worst-hit by insurgency, says the Boko Haram/ISWAP menace in the state has got worse since the appointment of the new service chiefs.
