Renowned Nigerian musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known by his stage name K1 De Ultimate, has announced the cancellation of his 67th birthday celebration planned for March 3rd.
The Fuji music icon, a household name in Nigeria, took to social media to express his decision, citing the current economic hardship faced by the country.
“There is nothing much happening in our country Nigeria to warrant me celebrating at this point in time,” K1 De Ultimate stated in his message.
Instead of festivities, he urged his fans and loved ones “to choose this my coming birthday celebration to help someone nearer to you.“
This move echoes K1 De Ultimate’s recent call to action during a public performance. He urged President Bola Tinubu to address the worsening economic situation in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for urgent solutions to prevent further hardship for the citizens.
