Kidnappers Of Lagos School Girls Massively Reduce Ransom

There are indications that the abductors of three young girls from Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary (BMJS) in Ikorodu, Lagos State, might have massively reduced the initial ransom demand from N200 million to N10 million.

Recall that Timilehin Olusa, Tofunmi Popoolaniyan and Deborah Akinayo were on Monday abducted from their school premises by unknown gunmen suspected to be oil pipeline vandals dislodged from a nearby neighbourhood.

It was learnt that the kidnappers contacted one of the victims’ parents to make the fresh demands around 2.00am this morning, The Nation reports.

Also, it was learnt that the kidnappers had given a specific location where the ransom is to be dropped.

However, the school authorities declined to give further information about the situation, saying that they had been warned by security agencies handling the matter not to divulge information that could help the kidnappers in their quest.

Many of the parents are however praying for the release of the girls.

The father of one of the kidnapped girls, Venerable Victor Ayo Olusa, said he was confident God would intervene in the matter and ensure the safe release of the kidnapped girls.

Ven. Olusa, who is also the Executive Secretary, Lagos Anglican School Management Board, which oversees the running of the schools owned by the Anglican communion, including BMJS, said: “The update is that they are still in the kidnappers den and we are trusting God; and the church is praying and the security agencies are working.  We are putting our faith in God.”
