The Olubadan-in-Council has nominated 89-year-old Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the next Olubadan, as he is the most senior High Chief from the Balogun line of Olubadan Chieftaincy ascension.
Oba Olakulehin thus becomes the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe, announced the nomination after a private meeting at the Olubadan’s palace, Oja’ba on Friday.
The meeting was called by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Rashidi Ladoja.
It was that the letter of nomination, which was signed during the meeting, will be forwarded to the governor for final approval.
Recall that the last Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, reigned for two years before dying aged 81 on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
