Kogi Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has charged beneficiaries of its community micro-projects to take ownership, guard, protect and sustain them as their personal projects.

Malam Dauda Momoh, General Manager of the CSDA, gave the charge on Monday in Okene during the inauguration of five micro-projects executed by the Agency in four communities in Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The projects were executed by the agency with support from the World Bank under its Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) in collaboration with the State Government.

Addressing the communities, Momoh reminded them that request for the various projects was made by them and not imposed by the agency and they should, therefore, ensure proper maintenance and sustainability.

“This is the request of the community. It is not the request of the agency to the community. So, in terms of sustainability, we are very hopeful that you are going to maintain and sustain the projects,’’ he said.

The general manager who expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to touch lives among the poor and rural communities positively commended Gov. Yahaya Bello for always according to the agency “express” approvals for its projects.

“We thank His Excellency who has always been giving us express approval of our requests. We have no reason to fail. The only option we have is to succeed and you can see we are succeeding

“By Tuesday, we are still coming back to the Central to give cheques to some of the communities that are through. Then the action will now move to Kogi West where we have pencilled the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to commission our projects,’’ he said.

NAN reports that some of the projects inaugurated in the Central Senatorial District include; Aboze Skill Acquisition Centre and a block of three classrooms for Aboze Community Oiza Model Academy in Okene Local Government Area.

Also commissioned was the Oboroke-Ihima Vulnerable Women Group Skill Acquisition Centre for widows in Okehi Local Government Area which was rated high by the General Manager in terms of the quality of the job done.

Momoh commended the Group Project Management Committee (GPMC) for a job well done and encouraged them to deploy the same zeal and expertise in the execution of their pending clinic project.

At Etahi, the CSDA team led by the General Manager assisted the representative of Director of Okene Local Government, Alhaji Momoh Abdulrahman to commission a block of four classrooms and motorised Borehole projects executed by the Agency.

NAN reports that the team had earlier launched the construction of a town hall and Skill Acquisition projects for Gov. Yahaya Bello’s Upogoro Community, Agassa in Okene Local Government Area.

The foundation laying ceremony was performed by the Auditor-General for Local Government, Usman Ododo, represented by Director, Traditional Councils, Alhaji Lateef Zubair.
