In a tragedy that shook the nation, a female police officer killed her whole family before killing herself in Kosovo on Tuesday.
The female officer, who was identified simply as V.B, shot her parents and then her two brothers before turning the gun on herself in the city where she served.
The incident occurred in Gnjilan, a town 50 kilometres south-east of Kosovo’s capital, Pristina.
“A police officer has killed four members of her family and in the end she committed suicide,” the prosecutor’s office in the town said in a statement, giving no further details about the incident.
Reports say that the five bodies were discovered at the scene, although the motive was not immediately clear.
Police said doctors at the scene had confirmed the deaths.
Investigators say that investigation was underway to uncover the motive behind the murder-suicide.
