Lagos State Begins Disinfection, Decontamination Of Live Bird Markets

Lagos State Government has began statewide disinfection and decontamination of 17 major live bird markets across the State.

Prince Gbolahan Lawal, Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, has explained  that the exercise is aimed at preventing the widespread

of the deadly swine disease particularly at this festive period when the demand for live bird increases.

Lawal listed the markets where the decontamination and disinfection would take place as Olaleye live bird Market, Mushin; Mushin Main

Market, Kosofe; Ejina live bird Market, Ikorodu and Agege Isale Oja live bird Market, Agege.

The State Commissioner then urged members of the Live Bird Marketers Association of Nigeria and all stakeholders to give their full

support and cooperation in order to ensure the success of the exercise.
