Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has introduced the new L405 Range Rover into the Nigerian market last week in Lagos. It was first shown in the 2012 Paris Motor Show. It differs from previous generations by using an all-aluminium monocoque body.
Nigeria is believed to be the largest market for JLR in sub-Sahara Africa, and the auto maker surely believes that only the best is good for the market.
It is the fourth unique model in the Range Rover family, the all-new L405 Range Rover, was unveiled at a ceremony hosted by Coscharis Motors, the sole dealership for JLR in Nigeria.
The main attraction of the event, which was attended by top officials of JLR from South Africa, was the revelation of the fourth generation Range Rover, described as the world’s first SUV with a revolutionary lightweight all-aluminium monocoque body structure, combining luxury, performance with all-terrain capability.
Apparently transforming the experience for luxury vehicle customers, with a step change in comfort, refinement and handling, the new L405 Range Rover, which is developed from the ground up, indeed, captures the innovative spirit and iconic design of the original model that changed the auto world when it was launched over 40 years ago.
There is a 420kg off the steel trimming of the old model, which makes the new aluminium-bodied L405 Range Rover lighter, translating to an incredible 39 per cent weight saving, as the lightweight aluminium platform has delivered significant enhancements in performance and agility, along with a transformation in fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
Three models of the L405 Range Rover, which also comes with luxurious and clean interiors and other contemporary features, are available in the Nigerian market, namely The Magnificient, a 4.4 litre SDV8 (super diesel); The Sophisticated, a 5.0litre (LR-V8); and The Incomparable, a 5.0 litre L-R-V8 (super charger).
A ground-breaking next-generation version of Land Rover’s Terrain Response system, which analyses the current driving conditions and automatically selects the most suitable vehicle settings for the terrain, is also a major feature of the new car which also takes safety and comfort very seriously .
Speaking at the unveiling of the new Land Rover in Lagos, Chairman/CEO, Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, said “This latest L405 is designed to break new market and sustain old customers by delivering stunning auto all terrain response performance while vividly demonstrating Land Rover’s cutting-edge engineering technologies and world-class design excellence.
