Manchester City are set to beat Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of teenage striker Musa Yahaya, dubbed the “Nigerian Neymar”.

The Nigeria under-17 international is being monitored by a host of clubs across Europe after impressing with four goals in seven matches at the Under-17 World Cup in November to help his side win the tournament.

Tottenham Hotspur are known to be one of the clubs interested in the 16-year-old playmaker’s signature but SportsDirect Newsunderstands Manchester City are the frontrunners to land the youngster.

City are in advanced talks with the  player’s agent Babawo Mohammed to bring Yahaya, who has been likened to Barcelona and Brazil striker Neymar, to the Emirates Stadium and Yahaya himself is keen on a switch to the Premier League outfit.

The playmaker’s international team-mates Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali are already on the books at City, which is likely to make Yahaya chose a move to the Citizens over their European rivals.
